COMPENSATION: $25.00 an hour, plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

In conjunction with progression of collegiate educations, the Business Technology Student Specialist role is designed to facilitate the growth and cultivation of the candidate by pairing academic knowledge with real time experience.  Our student specialist will proactively gain the knowledge, skills, ability and experience within various functions of the Business Technology field. This position is generally an 18-month assignment, and may be shorter or longer based on business needs.

The Business Technology Student Specialist will be placed on a predefined team and will be mentored on the processes within the BT department to:

Assess businesses needs

  • Determine how best to meet those needs
  • Obtain the technical solution needed for successful implementation
  • Evaluate effectiveness of overall solution in solving the business need

How You Will Spend Your Time

  • Performs day to day implementation & support of the organizations systems. Supports maximum uptime for all systems and applications.
  • Keep relevant technical skills, as defined by department assigned, up to date in order to provide the most efficient support to end users, and recommend the use of current technologies to the team.
  • Actively participates on assigned team projects fulfilling task assignments, meeting deadlines, and proactively seeking attainment of team goals.
  • Represents and communicates the mission and values of Farm Credit Mid-America and complies with its conduct policy, security policy and confidentiality expectations.

Education & Experience

This is an entry level position for the Business Technology Student Specialist. The primary responsibility is to become a potential fully functional Business Transformation department candidate through training and on the job experience.

• Associate's Degree in computer science, business or related field or equivalent work-related or education-related technology experience is required. This is an entry level position. 
• Preferred: Experience building/deploying custom AI/ML models.
• Preferred: Experience prototyping AI agents (agentic AI) and automated workflows.
• Preferred: Business acumen and business process automation skills.
• Willing and able to work a hybrid schedule in Louisville, KY.

Mental & Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
