SCHEDULE:  Full Time 
TRAVEL REQUIRED:  0% - 10% 


COMPENSATION: $57,361.00 to $150,980.00  base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

The Credit Officer serves the Association's Retail Agriculture (Retail Ag) initiative. They are primarily responsible for approving and recommending credit actions, analyzing loan applications, and working with Retail Ag representatives to meet the financial needs of our customers. The financial needs of Retail Ag customers, which include both part-time and full-time farmers, are typically less than $5 million. 

 

How You Will Spend Your Time

  • Works in conjunction with sales staff to understand customer goals, financial information, credit strengths and weaknesses, and deliver "value added" constructive lending that will assist our customers and prospective customers. Explain loan decisions to sales staff in a way that they can effectively communicate and serve the customer. 
  • Operating in an ongoing consultative relationship with our customers, the Credit Officer delivers sound analysis and decisions in alignment with the Association’s desired goals and risk profile.
  • Analyzing loans originated by Retail sales staff and providing prompt turnaround on loan decisions.
  • Approving loans within delegated authority or recommending approval of sound decisions involving loan structure, terms, and conditions. Delegated authority amounts are assigned based on skill set and range from $150,000 to $4,000,000.
  • Performing ongoing credit analysis to identify trends that may lead to increased risk for the Association.
  • Building expertise in areas of agriculture, credit, finance, technology, and other needs of the marketplace.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of specialized government programs and utilizing the programs as necessary in the administration of credit.
  • Maintaining sound loan quality and credit administration.
  • Serving as a credit resource and coaching others in credit.
  • Facilitate and participate in cross-training sessions to enhance credit knowledge in teams outside of the Credit department. May involve speaking in front of a crowd

Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business or related field. 1 year experience in Credit Analysis.


 

Mental & Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
