LOCATION:  Louisville, KY or remote within our lending service area (Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas)

TRAVEL REQUIRED:  25% - 50% 


COMPENSATION: $121,716.00 to $243,613.00  base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

Our Director Credit Commercial Agriculture leads Commercial Agriculture credit team in effective and efficient delivery of quality credit services while partnering with Retail Agriculture leadership and sales teams. Sets Commercial Agriculture credit team goals consistent with attaining association objectives. Leads the Commercial Agriculture Credit Officers in the delivery of sound credit analysis and other related services by coaching team in relationships, credit analysis, decision-making and maintaining acceptable credit practices.

The financial needs of Commercial Agriculture customers are typically between $10-$75 million. The Director Credit Commercial Agriculture approves or denies loans within their delegated authority, makes recommendations for loans exceeding authority, and establishes appropriate loan terms and structures to manage loan risks. Individual authority level may be up to $20 million.

How You Will Spend Your Time

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Commercial Agriculture credit team that results in effective credit delivery, outstanding customer service, quality sales, and a sound portfolio.
  • Lead and coach others, set team's direction, deploy resources, evaluate performance, review pay, and recommend employment decisions.
  • Achieve results by leading team members in a manner that instills trust and is consistent with association values.
  • Monitor the quality of loan portfolio and report analysis of specific adverse credit trends, risks, or problems to the Chief Credit Officer.
  • Provide support for quality sales through analysis of large and complex loans, team customer calling, and occasional prior approval for loans outside of Commercial Agriculture Credit Officers’ authority.
  • Maintain technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process development capabilities.
  • Model organizational values, inspire a shared vision and hold their teams accountable for culture preservation and growth.
  • Build strong relationships with sales, credit, operations and other leaders and team members that can be leveraged to meet customer needs positively and quickly.
  • Adjust and execute functional or departmental business plans to meet Association objectives. Develop departmental plans and priorities that support the needs and goals of the next 5 years.
  • Consult and coach the Commercial Agriculture staff to bring about desired results as measured by growth, credit quality, credit administration, and financial results.
  • Apply acquired expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent

Minimum Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, agriculture or related field and over ten years of progressively responsible agricultural credit experience with at least five years in a leadership role or having demonstrated leadership capabilities. 

Mental & Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
