COMPENSATION: $124,759.00 to $249,703.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
About Our Opportunity
The Director Food and Agribusiness Credit provides direct leadership to credit team members supporting Farm Credit Mid America’s Food and Agribusiness initiative. This team supports large originations including situations where Farm Credit Mid-America is the Administrative Agent, or Joint Lead Arranger. The Director Food and Agribusiness Credit is responsible for ensuring sound credit practices, maintaining portfolio quality, and enabling strategic growth through effective credit structuring and risk management. This role partners closely with sales and operations teams to evaluate complex transactions, guide credit decisions, and support the delivery of tailored financial solutions to large agribusiness clients.

How You Will Spend Your Time
- Provides support for large and complex loan analyses that results in effective credit delivery, outstanding customer service, timely decision making, effective credit administration, and a sound portfolio.
- Collaborates with sales, operations, and credit leaders to achieve portfolio growth goals and determine ways to deliver value beyond the customer’s capital needs.
- Maintains strategic oversight of credit policy implementation to ensure alignment with Association risk appetite and monitors the quality of the loan portfolio to communicate performance to impacted stakeholders.
- Works with team members to establish appropriate loan terms and structures to manage loan risk and approves or denies loans within their delegated authority.
- Provides day-to-day oversight and leads team members and self by modeling values, inspiring a shared vision, and encouraging continuous learning and development.
- Defines team operating standards, monitors internal procedures, and processes and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements to manage operational risks.
- Develops and implements strategies to achieve organizational goals.
- Monitors market and other relevant changes, adjusting plans to address resource and operational challenges, as appropriate.
- Uses data-driven insights to make informed decisions and effectively address challenges.
- Establishes and maintains trusting, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to recommend and implement improved processes and tools that facilitate operational excellence and enhance customer and team member experience.
- Participates in committees, projects, and strategic initiatives to support overall customer experience and drive organizational success.
Minimum Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in business, agriculture, or related field.
5 years building foundational leadership skills, understands team responsibilities, and develops emerging competence in leadership practices, coaching, decision-making, and technical mastery to effectively support their team and achieve operational goals.
