SCHEDULE: Full Time, Hybrid
TRAVEL REQUIRED: 25% - 50%
COMPENSATION: $82,497.00 to $141,221.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
About Our Opportunity
The Enterprise Credit Collateral Auditor is responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations and asset-based field examinations to ensure all collateral pledged is verified and reported accurately in accordance with established credit and security agreements and documented in accordance with internal underwriting and collateral standards. This role ensures assets reported on a borrowing base are accurately reported by a borrower through appropriate financial and systems control testing procedures. The role ensures collateral pledged is appropriately secured and monitored in accordance with sound lending principles.
The auditor will verify the legitimacy, ownership, and valuation of pledged assets in accordance with loan covenant definitions, assess the adequacy and condition of collateral, identify risks or discrepancies, and ensure that collateral information is consistently maintained in appropriate borrower systems. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s credit exposure by confirming that all collateral securing asset-based loans are valid, enforceable, and sufficient to support credit decisions.
This role brings deep expertise and wide operational latitude, handling complex or ambiguous work that requires sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills. How You Will Spend Your Time
- Prepare clear, comprehensive collateral audit reports that summarize audit findings, identify exceptions, and risk exposures, and provide actionable recommendations. Present results to customers, management, credit officers, relationship teams, and loan committees to support sound credit decisions and remediation efforts.
- Conduct onsite and remote collateral examinations of accounts receivable, inventory, and other personal property or chattel security. Verify existence, ownership, and reporting accuracy by comparing physical observations to reported data, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling collateral records within the borrowing base to ensure compliance with loan terms.
- Engage directly with customers on a regular basis to provide guidance and education on borrowing base report preparation, promoting accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and adherence to lending requirements.
- Applies advanced expertise to independently manage complex, high-impact work.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED with 8 years relevant experience required.
- Bachelor's degree with 4 years relevant experience preferred.
