COMPENSATION: $80,485.00 to $137,777.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
About Our Opportunity
The Financial Data Analyst plays a pivotal role within the Financial Operations team. The role is responsible for designing and interpreting financial reports, developing financial models, assessing the impact of strategic scenarios, and delivering financial insights that drive the Association's performance and growth. The role is multifaceted, requiring a blend of analytic acumen, strategic thinking, collaborative leadership, and effective communication. The Financial Data Analyst excels in transforming complex financial scenarios into clear, actionable strategies and can simplify complex financial issues through the lens of financial analysis and modeling support. This individual will be a catalyst for change, using their expertise in financial analysis and modeling to support decision-making processes across the organization.
How You Will Spend Your Time
- Working along with Financial Planning & Reporting Analysts, assists in the preparation of reports summarizing financial position and performance of the Association reported to the Board, the ALCO, included in the Call Report, shareholder reports and others. Summarizes vast amounts of data into meaningful and comprehensive reports, charts, and graphs to assist management and leaders in the decision-making process.
- Prepares various and in-depth analyses, and related verbal and written analyses and reports, to support and inform management, leaders, the Board, the ALCO, and other decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Coordinates and executes the Association’s Cost Allocation Study, revises entity cost allocation tables, and performs annual analysis at year end to correct allocation in accordance with methodology established by the Cost Allocation Study
- Participates in planning, reporting, and support of Association Capital Management initiatives such as Patronage and Asset Pools.
- Leverages expert knowledge and familiarity with the intersection of data requirements and tools, GAAP, ICFR, and financial reporting to provide assistance and insights on projects sponsored by and/or impacting Financial Operations that involve Business Technology and/or other teams.
- Analyzes, designs, and improves processes and tools used by other members of Financial Operations that utilize large sets of data and/or data analysis tools (SQL, MicroStrategy, Power BI, advanced Excel functions, etc.); or that could utilize those tools to more efficiently and effectively perform those processes.
- Partners with Financial Operations and Data Warehouse teams to develop, test, implement, maintain, and document reports and reporting processes in Financial Operations.
- Maintains, improves, and/or assists with the various models and data processes used by Financial Operations, including but not limited to: Profitability modeling and reporting; Pricing modeling and reporting; Call reporting and shareholder reporting.
- Providing strategic decision support, exploring opportunities to improve profitability and return on capital. Design financial and operational analytics to enable informed decision making.
- Provides support to Louisville office audits conducted by external auditor Price Waterhouse-Coopers (PwC), the Farm Credit Administration (FCA), Internal Control Over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
- Represents and communicates the mission and values of the Association and complies with its conduct policy, security policy and confidentiality expectations.
Minimum Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business or finance is required. Graduate degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, business, or related field is preferred. Plus two or more years progressively responsible and related experience. Strong Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word skills. Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau, or other business intelligence tools. Experience in the financial services industry preferred.
