TRAVEL REQUIRED: 0% - 25%
COMPENSATION: $72,380.00 to $154,755.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
About Our Opportunity
In collaboration with the Investment Portfolio Manager the Investment Portfolio Analyst is responsible for managing the Association's investment portfolio. This position analyzes investment opportunities, maintains strong relationships with secondary markets' brokers and guarantee agencies. This position is responsible for the quality and accuracy of investment data within our Accounting and Servicing systems and monitoring portfolio performance.
How You Will Spend Your Time
- Maintain quality and accuracy of investment data within our Accounting and Servicing systems and monitoring portfolio performance.
- Responsible for routine servicing actions on purchased investments, working directly with lead lenders, brokers, and the guaranteeing agency to achieve appropriate customer service while preserving the guaranteed status of the investment.
- Maintain relationships with approved brokers and lending institutions to purchase government guaranteed investments and facilitate closing and booking of the asset.
- Performs various and in-depth financial analyses and related verbal or written analyses, to support management, leaders, Board and the ALCO.
- Develops detailed documentation of processes and procedures related to Association Investments.
- Review of loan level pricing details to determine causes of pricing exceptions or potential funding disconnects. Proactively identify issues and facilitate necessary pricing corrections to mitigate potential financial losses or inaccurate reporting.
- Maintain a high level of communication and coordination with the Investment Portfolio Manager, Food & Agribusiness, Credit, Legal, Finance and other departments within the organization to effectively maintain the Investment Portfolio.
- Maintain ongoing knowledge and awareness of current trends, competitive issues, and industry developments.
- Assists in preparation of reports summarizing financial position and performance of the investment portfolio reported to the Board, the ALCO, and included in the Call Report, Mission Related Investments (MRI) report and shareholder reports..
- Partners with Financial Operations and senior leadership to monitor economic trends, review and adapt investment strategy, monitor investment performance, and stress test securities.
- Reviews new loan packages and coordinates between external and internal customers to assure loan closing requirements are met.
- Enters data into origination systems and partners with internal stake holders to monitor and maintain database accuracy.
- Participates in the ongoing design of processes to provide exceptional service, achieve satisfactory credit administration goals, and achieve targeted credit quality while providing adequate compensation for risk.
- Growing and maintaining relationships with external parties to mitigate costs, create efficiencies and improve turnaround times.
- Provides support for Financial Operations as needed for Internal Control Over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
- Provides support to Louisville office audits conducted by external auditor Price Waterhouse-Coopers (PwC) and the Farm Credit Administration (FCA) as needed.
- Represents and communicates the mission and values of the Association and complies with its conduct policy, security policy and confidentiality expectations.
Minimum Education & Experience
Associate’s Degree in accounting, business or finance is required. Master's Degree/Graduate degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, business or related field is preferred. Plus, two or more years progressively responsible and related experience. Strong Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word skills. Experience in financial services industry preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA),Certified Treasury Professional (CTP)-AFP or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
