TRAVEL REQUIRED: 50% - 75%
Compensation: The salary range for this position is estimated to be $66,815.00 – $125,909.00 annualized, which reflects the company’s current estimate of the potential compensation range at the time of posting. This salary range reflects the anticipated compensation for this position and represents one component of the total rewards package. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, qualifications, and allotted budget. About Our Opportunity
The Litigation Officer serves the Association's internal and external customers by managing and servicing assigned accounts that are currently involved in litigation. The primary goal of the Litigation Officer is to assist a borrower in resolving the litigation and returning the customer to viability, or to exit the lending relationship. Litigation Officers collaborate with retail team members, customers, and outside counsel to evaluate the financial position of the borrower and facilitate both servicing and litigation solutions.
The Litigation Officer applies solid functional knowledge and sound judgment to deliver dependable, high-quality work with minimal direction. Team members at this level manage moderately complex responsibilities, balance priorities effectively, and contribute meaningful insights that support team and functional performance. They are trusted to navigate varied situations, identify improvement opportunities, and operate with increasing autonomy.
How You Will Spend Your Time
- Manages a multi-million-dollar adverse portfolio by developing and executing litigation and servicing strategies aligned with approved action plans and organizational objectives.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders and external counsel to assess customer operations, determine legal strategies, and ensure a consistent, data-driven approach to litigation across the Association.
- Monitors and engages proactively on at-risk accounts through regular communication, joint meetings, and relationship-building to mitigate risk and support sound credit outcomes.
- Exercises delegated credit authority and provides analysis by making informed decisions, documenting rationale in credit narratives, and balancing risk with non-accrual and portfolio performance goals.
- Represents the organization in legal and field activities and serves as a subject matter expert by staying current on relevant laws, building industry expertise, and delivering training on distressed loans and litigation matters.
- Manages assigned work with minimal direction delivering a high degree of accuracy, quality and timely completion.
- Applies functional knowledge and judgment to evaluate information and make informed decisions.
- Anticipates needs, manages competing priorities, and proactively communicates status or risks.
- Supports process improvements by identifying gaps and recommending practical solutions.
- Collaborates effectively across teams to advance shared goals and business outcomes.
- Serves as a resource to less experienced team members through informal guidance.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma/GED with 7 years relevant experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years relevant experience preferred.
- Agriculture and/or Lending experience preferred.
Mental & Physical Requirements
While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
