SCHEDULE: Full Time, Hybrid
TRAVEL REQUIRED: 0% - 25%
COMPENSATION: $80,485.00 to $154,755.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
About Our Opportunity
The Portfolio Manager Food and Agribusiness will be responsible for supporting the entire Food and Agribusiness portfolio through loan origination/closing, loan servicing, and growth efforts. The Portfolio Manager Food and Agribusiness will work closely with the Food and Agribusiness sales, operations, and credit teams, and will collaborate with multiple departments including finance, legal, and leadership. Responsible for managing an assigned portfolio, the Portfolio Manager Food and Agribusiness will also act as a resource for sales team members to facilitate the transaction process and will stand in for sales team member in customer interactions. Portfolio Manager Food and Agribusiness will act as an intermediary between Food and Agribusiness credit and operations teams to allow the sales team to spend additional time identifying new opportunities.
About Our Food & Agribusiness Team
The Food and Agribusiness team is responsible for servicing the Association's corporate and commercial lending customers. The portfolio includes originated loans, including those where Farm Credit Mid-America may be the administrative agent with exposure sold to other lenders, and purchased interests in multi-bank syndications, participations, and other debt instruments.
How You Will Spend Your Time
- Acts as the primary backup for AVP/VP Food and Agribusiness in customer interactions, document review, and servicing activities.
- Works closely with the Credit team to obtain a deep understanding of loan structure and credit actions.
- Maintains and services a portfolio of assigned accounts.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with customers, prospective customers, and System partners based on mutual trust and respect.
- Accompanies AVP/VP Food and Agribusiness on meetings with influencers, partners, current or prospective customers.
- Researches and identifies new sales opportunities through analysis of internal reporting and publicly available information.
- Facilitates conversations between Operations and Credit teams to ensure consistent experience for each Food and Agribusiness customer.
- Partners with various teams to contribute to the achievement of satisfactory Association credit administration and credit quality goals.
Minimum Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Agriculture, or a closely related field. Plus four years progressively responsible agricultural credit experience involving the marketing and extension of credit to Agribusiness and large, complex farm accounts. Skills in complex financial structures, sales calling, team involvement, and automated sales systems are preferred. Experience using Salesforce or other sales systems are preferred.
A developing professional with foundational expertise in project management, process improvement, and stakeholder collaboration. Works under moderate supervision, focusing on tactical execution, data analysis, and operational support. Ideal for candidates building their strategic thinking and business acumen within a structured environment.
