COMPENSATION: $72,380.00 to $154,755.00 base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
About Our Opportunity
The Quality Assurance Engineer drives quality on a software delivery team by planning and executing testing of business applications to support the association's operational and strategic goals. This role focuses on automated testing foremost, while engaging in manual testing where needed. The role also is responsible for cultivating quality practices on the delivery team.
The Quality Assurance Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions, aligns team processes with a quality mindset, and provides technical expertise to improve software reliability and user experience.
How You Will Spend Your Time
- Works within delivery teams as a tester (automated and manual) to verify that systems meet quality expectations, as well as to reproduce, analyze and debug issues.
- Leads the planning, writing, maintenance, coordination, and execution of automated testing for all supported applications.
- Analyzes test needs for user stories and develops test specifications or test cases. Collaborates with the team to refine, support and understand stories for testability of COAs.
- Estimates project timelines, delivers work within established deadlines, and communicates progress effectively.
- Sets-up and facilitates QA related meetings, demos, and UAT sessions. Works collaboratively with development teams and business partners who participate in user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Maintains, adheres to, and promotes established standards and procedures for test plans/cases as needed and monitor compliance by coordinating with IT business analysts (BA), team members and business owners.
- Continues to grow technical and QA skills as well as understanding of Farm Credit Mid-America business processes. Stays current with emerging technologies and QA best practices to enhance system reliability and performance.
- Actively participates in Agile development practices within a team that may include daily stand-ups, refinement, and planning meetings.
- Assists in mentoring and developing quality assurance expertise within the software development team.
- Establishes and maintains compliance with security policies, confidentiality standards, and company values.
Minimum Education & Experience
Preferred experience is at least 3 years proficiency in software testing, both automated and manual, comfort with querying relational databases, and a firm grasp of Agile methodologies. Candidates should actively engage in story refinement and test planning, as well as team discussions on process improvements. The role involves independently completing tasks while collaborating with the team.
High School diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree in business, accounting, computer science and related field preferred. Prefer 1 year foundational knowledge of testing, both manual and automated, and a willingness to learn in a structured environment. An entry-level role, completion of a certified coding or software development training program may be considered in place of some experience.

Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
