COMPENSATION: $114,350.00 to $226,620.00  base salary plus potential for variable compensation. Base pay is determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Farm Credit Mid-America/Rural 1st may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

About Our Opportunity

The Solutions Architect provides enterprise application architecture leadership, shaping the long term direction of application design, integration, and technology standards to support Farm Credit Mid America's business strategy. It ensures that application solutions are scalable, secure, and sustainable while mentoring development teams and advising leaders on architectural decisions and emerging technologies.

This role serves as a recognized authority in a specialized discipline, shaping standards, practices, and long-term direction across the Association. Team members at this level navigate highly complex, ambiguous, or enterprise critical work with exceptional judgment. Their impact extends systemwide through thought leadership, innovation, and the stewardship of long-term organizational capability.

How You Will Spend Your Time

  • Defines and evolves enterprise application architecture standards, patterns, and guidelines to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned to business strategy and customer experience.
  • Provides architectural leadership and technical direction to agile application development teams, ensuring adherence to design, coding, security, and integration standards.
  • Partners with product team and business and technology leaders to translate complex business requirements into sustainable application and system architecture, clearly articulating tradeoffs and long term impacts.
  • Evaluates, selects, and guides the implementation of third party platforms and application integration approaches to ensure architectural alignment and value realization.
  • Reviews system designs and application code to validate architectural integrity, performance, security, and alignment to enterprise standards, proactively identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Creates and maintains clear, usable architecture documentation that supports consistent development practices, knowledge sharing, and long term system maintainability.
  • Leads enterprise‑critical analysis, recommendations, and decision support in highly complex areas.
  • Shapes standards, frameworks, or practices that elevate quality, consistency, and effectiveness.
  • Drives innovations that strengthen system‑wide performance and long‑term readiness.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing deep expertise and strategic perspective.
  • Mentors and develops others, building expertise and strengthening organizational capability.
  • Represents the discipline internally and externally, reinforcing credibility and leadership.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED with 12 years relevant experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Management, Engineering, Computer Science or related disciplines with 8 years relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience working within the Microsoft development stack preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead architectural design discussions and solution planning sessions preferred.
  • Prior formal leadership experience referred.

Mental & Physical Requirements

While engaged in this position, team members will routinely sit, use hands for tasks, and communicate orally. Standing or walking is frequently required, while occasional demands include reaching with hands and arms, and lifting or moving up to ten pounds. Vision requirements encompass close and distance vision. The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. This role may entail a blend of mental and physical capabilities, requiring strong mental acuity, problem-solving skills, and occasional physical tasks such as standing, lifting, or extended computer usage. Some roles may require physical or mental requirements related to driving, such as a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive a long-distance.
